Attention Walkers: Please meet at 6AM on Saturday, May 15th at McCoy Pavilion to check in. The walk will start promptly at 7AM.

WHAT: 2010 Visitor Industry Charity Walk

WHEN: Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 7AM

WHERE: Starts at McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Beach Park

In 1974, the Hawai‘i Hotel & Lodging Association sponsored a “Superwalk” to benefit one major charitable organization. Over the years, the Charity Walk has grown to become one of the largest single day fund-raising events in the State. In 1978, the Hawai‘i Hotel & Lodging Association members voted to extend the reach of support offered by the walk’s fund-raising capability, the Visitor Industry Charity Walk is the result of this decision. All of Hawai‘i’s non-profit charities are eligible to benefit. Walkers are treated to food, drink and first aid at checkpoints along the walk route. All checkpoints are operated and supplied with refreshments and helpers by Hawai‘i hotels and allied organizations. Entertainment may also be provided at many checkpoints and/or at the end of the walk.

If you would like to join the Hawaii Kai Jaycees’ Team in this walk then please email us at hkjaycees@gmail.com

We hope to see you there!!!

IDMB 2010 (4th of July)

Posted on 26 April 2010 by Shaunte

WHAT: 4th of July Fireworks Event

WHEN: July 4, 2010

WHERE: Maunalua Bay

The Hawaii Kai Jaycees are looking for volunteers to help at this event.  Please contact Mike Nitta at hkjaycees@gmail.com for more information.

Last year, the 2nd Annual Independence Day at Maunalua Bay (IDMB) was
a spectacular event. It was an enjoyable gathering of the community
to celebrate the birth of our country with food, entertainment, and
topped off with an incredible fireworks show (where volunteers were
given the “best seats in the house”).

The Jaycees (Hawaii Kai as well as members of other chapters) made a
great impact to the success of this event and made a great impression
to the community and other participants of the event.

In order to rekindle the spark that made last year’s event such a
success, we need your help.

A list of tasks and shifts will be sent soon.
This includes setting up the day before and breaking down the day
after the event. Please let me know if you can help including, if
possible, the specific time periods you will be able to help. If you
have a preference in helping out in a specific task, please let me
know and include your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices of tasks, if possible.

On July 4th, parking for volunteers (no passes needed) is available at
Hahaione Elementary School near the Hawai Kai Recreation Center on
Pepeekeo St., Hawaii Kai Town Center near Costco, and Kaiser High
School (shuttle service begins at 12:30PM or call me).

If you have any questions or wish to help, please do not hesitate to
email hkjaycees@gmail.com.

Thank you,
Mike Nitta
